New Kumeyaay Documentary “First People” on KPBS

21 07 2014

This is up for a limited time, I’m sure, so watch it, before it’s gone.  Here is a description from kpbs “The Kumeyaay Nation at one time lived throughout this region and is currently comprised of 13 reservations scattered across San Diego County and four in northern Baja California. The Kumeyaay people who live on and off these reservations share a heritage that goes back, in their words, “to the beginning of time.” This film explores some aspects of this resilient culture.”

What An Experience!

17 12 2009

So the semester is finally over!!!!  Now it’s all about entering grades and things like that.  The final for both of my classes went really well.  If you give students the opportunity to express themselves they really do a great job at sharing what they learn.  The final for my Chicano Culture class was great, so much tasty food, music and good people.  I think we built some good community tonight.

Looking toward January, the Peace and Dignity Journeys is planning on being part of the Enero Zapatista events happening throughout January, so keep an eye out for that.  We will be presenting on January 17.  Our plans are to share our experience from our trip down to baja when we visit with the cucapa and the kumeyaay nations.

We are very excited to share that we are selling jewelry to raise money for Peace and Dignity and hopefully I can post some pictures of what we have on this blog asap.  The jewelry comes from Guatemala and would make a great gift for someone.

If anyone is interested in donating clothes, food or toys for our trip down to baja on jan 8,9, and 10 let me know.  Until til then.
